Why you no English speaking eerr ?.

,,,Guess for the older malaysian generation, we still acknowledge and celebrate our ties to British education and British institutions not out of sentimentality but out of an understanding that these are foundational influences that have had much to do with stability and competitiveness as a nation.
,,,British educational, administrative, legal and cultural institutions continue to be of vital importance to us as Malaysians. YES indeed, we utilized it and brought this nation of our to this modern era by sheer blood,  sweat and tears.
,,,We still need to reaffirm these links without political blinkers, understand their cultural, political and economic importance to us, and build on them.
,,,One result of such a change of attitude should be a rethinking of our attitude to the English language. By now it is also a Malaysian language. It would be sheer hypocrisy to deny its value and centrality to us as Malaysians.
,,,Do we continue to deny in political rhetoric what we practice in reality, or do we grasp the situation and come up with better policies for the teaching and adoption of the language?. My question to the ruling elites ??..THINK logically too and forget about PRIDE !.
,,,Rather than indulge in grand schemes of cultural “import substitution” we should appreciate the extent of these influences and links and explore ways to develop them further.
,,,indeed we need to HOTWIRE some heads in PUTRAJAYA too !. Please use your head-lah for God’s  sake !.

Note;

“Who deserves to be called wise?. He who finds something to learn from others” and “You will always meet someone who can tell you something you didn’t or refused to know before.  Accept it, digest it”

i rest my case.

    Selamat pagi Capt,

Nice new blog u got here, good layout, not too clustered & generally very pleasing to the eyes. Love the messages that u r trying to put across but alas it will be a mountain of a task to try and convince those in the offices of power. The last 2 generations had been brainwashed beyond cure?

We did inherit a good system from the Poms but NO we did NOT actually lost our own cultural identities back then. Hate to say this but English did actually united all of us (different ethnic groups), for the Chinese with our many different dialects group, for the Malays, the different accents from Johor to Kelantan. Mind u my BM is MCE C4 standard but I do have problem understanding BM as spoken by East Coast Malays & they likewise to mine too, but generally we’d got no problems when we communicate in English.

You see, how you & all the makcik blogs that I frequent, got no problem with me, right? Even the tough spoken ‘Golden Deer with the RPG’ can even accept/put up with me, warts & all (Itu humsup Apek giler)…hahaha! We can recognize straight away that we were in the same team despite our differences in ethnicity & religion wise. Heck what went wrong? Guess u had pinpoint the major reasons and it is indeed very sad & depressing to see the state that Malaysia is in today.

Tuan Capt, u keep on with your ideals & take care.

    Tommy

P/S – Hehehe did I made u ‘berbulu’ by addressing u as a ‘Tuan’…very cheeky of me indeed lah!

    • Tommy,

,,,men takes on the nature, the habits and the power of thought of those with whom they associate in a spirit of sympathy and harmony.
,,,yes indeed, don’t call me tuan, Capt. will do-lah. But my India Indian friends call me Guru !. Guess only God knows why. Tried but can’t stop them.
